Kaleidoscopic Orb
Wondrous item, legendary (requires attunement by a wizard or sorcerer)
This mystical orb refracts endless light and possibility, its shifting panels reflecting all manner of unseen truths. The orb can be used as an arcane focus for your spells.
While attuned to the orb, you can cast Scrying (DC 20) at will. When cast through this orb, the scrying effect is exceptionally potent:
- The target cannot sense that they are being observed, regardless of the saving throw result.
- If scrying on a location or person, you can choose to have Truesight within the vision, allowing you to see through magical disguises, illusions, and other deceptions.
The orb also grants limited clairvoyance, allowing glimpses into the past or future of a location. If scrying a place instead of a person, you can attempt to peer into its history or fate by succeeding on an Intelligence (Arcana) check:
- Scrying the Past requires a DC 10 + 1 per year beyond the present.
- Scrying the Future requires a DC 15 + 5 per month into the future. The vision shows a version of the future that is unaffected by any current or future events, depicting only what would happen if the present remained unchanged.
