Withering Heartseed
Artifact
A black rose of unfathomable sorrow, the Withering Heartseed radiates a melancholic aura, exuding an unnatural stillness that seeps into the souls of those who come into contact with it.
Curse of the Heartseed. Upon touching the flower or its petals, a creature must make a DC 30 Charisma saving throw. On a failure, their alignment is reversed, fundamentally altering their goals and morality to the exact opposite of their original personality. This transformation is not an illusion or enchantment but a true reordering of their spirit and convictions.
On a success, the creature resists the alignment shift but is instead afflicted with the Curse of the Heartseed—they suffer a -10 penalty and disadvantage on all Charisma and Wisdom saving throws. This curse can only be removed by a Wish spell.
The Heartseed’s Petals. The petals of the Withering Heartseed hold potent alchemical properties. When used as a component in brewing an ingested poison, the resulting toxin places its victim into an eternal slumber. While in this state:
- The victim does not age, cannot be healed, and is immune to damage and decay.
- They remain in perfect stasis, their body unchanging, as though time itself refuses to touch them.
- This affliction can only be removed by Greater Restoration cast at 9th level or by a Wish spell.
