Yaozi (Yaoguai-born)

Yaozi are humanoids afflicted by a curse. They may have harbored negative karma, been cursed themselves, or been born to a creature afflicted by such a curse.

Yaozi Traits

As a Yaozi, you have the following traits.

  • Ability Score Increase. Your Charisma score increases by 2, and your Constitution score increases by 1.
  • Creature Type. You are a Humanoid.
  • Alignment. Yaozi tend toward chaotic alignments, whether through the nature of their curse or the circumstances of their birth.
  • Size. You are Medium.
  • Speed. Your walking speed is 30 feet.
  • Wrathful Presence. As an action, you can unleash a monstrous visage that frightens nearby creatures. Choose a number of creatures within 30ft of you that can see or hear you. They must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your Charisma modifier + your proficiency bonus). On a failed save, they are frightened of you until the end of your next turn. Once you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
  • Yaoguai Resilience. You have advantage on saving throws to detect and resist curses.
  • Fearless. You have advantage to resist and end the Frightened condition.
  • Body Morph. As an action, you can contort your body in numerous ways. You can change your skin color or hair length, enlarge or remove your teeth, change your eye color, or manifest spectral markings on your skin. You can’t grow additional appendages, and your form retains its shape and number of limbs. The alteration lasts for 1 minute, or until you become Incapacitated.
