Way of the Lion Dance
Lion Dance Monks embody the spirit of celebration, courage, and living motion, transforming martial arts into a breathtaking performance of strength and agility. Drawing inspiration from traditional lion dances, they weave acrobatics, rhythm, and ferocity into combat, leaping across the battlefield with flowing grace and explosive force.
Level 3 – Performer of the Lion
You gain proficiency in the Performance skill. You can use Dexterity instead of Charisma for Performance checks involving dance, and you have advantage on such checks.
Level 3 – Leaping Strike
Your acrobatic movements allow you to strike with explosive momentum.
Your long jump distance becomes 20 feet and your high jump becomes 15 feet, and you can make these jumps without a running start.
When you complete a jump of at least 10 feet and land, you can perform a Leaping Strike and make one unarmed strike against a creature within your reach. On a hit, the attack deals additional damage equal to your proficiency bonus.
When you use Leaping Strike, and you take damage as a result of falling, reduce any fall distance you take during that movement by an amount equal to the height of your jump.
You can use Leaping Strike two times, regaining all expended uses on a short or long rest. On your turns, you can expend 1 focus point to regain 1 expended use of Leaping Strike (no action required).
Your maximum uses increases as you gain Monk levels: three times at level 11, four times at level 17.
Level 6 – Pouncing Steps
Your footwork becomes light and explosive. When you use Step of the Wind, your jump distance is doubled until the end of the turn.
If you use Leaping Strike after completing a jump of at least 20 feet, the attack deals additional damage equal to one Martial Arts die.
Level 11 – Skyborne Dancer
Your movements defy gravity. When you use Step of the Wind, you gain a flying speed equal to your movement speed until the end of the turn.
Your long jump distance becomes 30 feet and your high jump becomes 20 feet.
Level 17 – Dance of the Lion
You embody the flowing, relentless motion of the lion.
When you use Step of the Wind, you can enter a Lion Dance until the end of your turn.
While in this state, you can extend a jump while airborne, increasing its total distance by an amount up to your current jump distance. You can do this once per turn.
In addition, once on each of your turns when you use Leaping Strike, you can make one additional unarmed strike against the same target.
Finally, your Leaping Strikes ignore damage resistances.
