Your patron is a Puppeteer—a being that enforces its will through willing or unwilling conduits. Such entities pursue vast, often inconceivable designs that require control over other beings to enact, acting through manipulation rather than direct intervention; Puppeteers can include trickster gods such as Loki, deceptive demigods and archfey courtiers, or otherworldly beings that possess minds, such as Nyarlathotep.
Some Puppeteers are cruel sovereigns who delight in humiliation and obedience, forcing mortals to dance, speak, or act against their own intent. Others are subtle whisperers, embedding suggestions that victims believe the thoughts were always their own. As your patron, the Puppeteer has granted you a portion of its power, enabling you to influence others in service of its designs.
Level 3: Expanded Spell List
The magic of your patron ensures you always have certain spells ready; when you reach a Warlock level specified in the Puppeteer Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.
Puppeteer Spells
| Warlock Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3 | Dissonant Whispers, Hideous Laughter, Enthrall, Suggestion |
| 5 | Fear, Hypnotic Pattern |
| 7 | Compulsion, Confusion |
| 9 | Dominate Person, Modify Memory |
Level 3: Alluring Whisper
You always have the Vicious Mockery cantrip prepared. It counts as a warlock spell for you, and does not count against your number of cantrips known. You can cast the spell without a verbal component, and the creature does not have to be able to hear you.
When a creature fails its saving throw against your vicious mockery, you can force it to spend 10 feet and move in a direction of your choice. This movement must not be obviously harmful, such as walking into a trap or over a ledge.
A creature immune to the charmed condition is immune to this effect.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Level 6: Lingering Derision
When you cast an Illusion or Enchantment warlock spell that you have prepared, you deal additional psychic damage equal to your Proficiency Bonus to one creature affected by the spell.
This damage does not end the the effects of a charmed condition caused by you.
Level 10: Cutting Ridicule
When you cast Vicious Mockery, you can weaken its damage to intensify its mental assault. When you do so, the target has disadvantage on the saving throw against the spell, and the spell’s damage is reduced by one damage die.
Level 14: Irresistible Will
You can cast Dominate Monster without expending a pact slot once per long rest. You can regain one expended use of this feature per long rest by expending two pact slots (no action required).
